It is an honor and a privilege for me and my team to invite you to join us in strengthening the partnership between leaders of prosecution services in order to increase the confidence of our citizens that the rule of law shall be asserted irrespective of the source of any threats.

We have tried to organize this Summit and its agenda in such a way as to convince all Prosecutors General that this is an event not to be missed despite the already very busy international agenda.

I truly believe in the necessity and value of this professional event. I am convinced that Prosecutors General require a formal meeting framework where they can discuss and share their approaches and concerns upon issues already on the international agenda, and also in relation to other problems or matters that have not yet been included on the global criminal justice timetable.

This Summit is also an opportunity for you as leaders of prosecution services to promote internationally, some of the goals that you have achieved at national level.

Professional partnerships in the field of criminal justice are essential for fighting crimes which may also pose global threats. The world community has reached a point in its evolution where the continued development and safety of human existence can no longer be protected unilaterally and can only be assured through the creation of flexible cooperative mechanisms, irrespective of political systems or geographical areas.

I also hope that the venue for the Summit in the largest administrative civil building in the world, and the cultural agenda, will provide additional reasons to persuade you to come to Bucharest where you will be able to exchange your views within a global environment.
